Trail Shoes

Yesterday was a new shoe day for me 😍 One of the questions I get asked the most is “can you recommend any good trail running shoes?” So here are my little nuggets of advice on what I think are the most important things to consider –
1. What brand road shoes do you wear? Try trail shoes by the same brand as you already know that you get on with the brand.
2. What type of trail will you be running? There’s a huge variety of shoes with hundreds of options for grip, and you don’t need anything too aggressive for the terrain in Norfolk etc.
3. Try them on, the most important thing is that they are comfortable. I am a massive fan of Hoka One One shoes but not everyone gets on with them, so if you are local I’d recommend heading to somewhere like Sportlink, where you can try on shoes, whilst getting some top notch advice.
4. Don’t stress about it, it could take several attempts before you find a shoe that finally feels 100% right, I’ve gone through several brands before trying out Hoka One One, and I now can’t see myself wearing anything else, but again what works for me won’t work for everyone else.

Don’t just take our word for it

  • positive review  I absolutely loved the Intro to Trail Running at Harling Woods this morning. Neil and Hannah shared their knowledge from what kit you need to hill trail running. I even learned some new stretches at the end that I will be introducing regularly. The forest was beautiful and the pace was social so all abilities were included. Everyone had a big grin on their faces and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Escape Trails is perfectly named. After the crazy fortnight I have just had I really did feel I had escaped for a few hours. I feel physically and mentally energised. Thank you Neil and Hannah, I look forward to joining you again soon 😀
