Global Trail Running Day

September 19 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

On September 19th 2020, runners from all over the world are going to be a part of a global celebration of trail running and we want you to get involved.

Join us for a free guided trail run to celebrate both Global Trail Running Day, and Run Leader Hannah’s Birthday. We will be starting out from the green in Trowse, and following a 5 mile route, we may even finish at the Cafe at Whitlingham Country Park. This will be a completely new route for us and different to our longer 10 mile route that we normally lead from Trowse.

We want everyone to enjoy trail running, and we will cater for different abilities, so don’t feel put off if you think you are a slower runner, everyone will be treated the same.

Please only attend the event if you have got a free ticket, due to Government guidance we will not be able to allow you to take part if we do not have your details. The event is limited to just 10 attendees to keep inline with current guidance, but if you can not attend in person, you can still take part in the day at home or wherever and tag us in your photos using #escapetrailsuk and #globaltrailrunningday

You can find out more about Global Trail Running Day at https://www.globaltrailday.com/, where if you want to you can purchase a package that includes a wooden medal for £10.

This run will be 5 miles long – Please note that whilst aiming to be as accurate to this as possible, in some circumstances I may be slightly over or under this mileage, but this will be very slightly.

What pace will we be running at?

We will be running at a casual, social pace. These runs are not a race so please be aware that you may not be the slowest runner and we will be running at the pace of the slowest person. If you are able to run at 11/12 min miles you will be fine.

How long will we be running?

I allow 2 hours for this event, but this will depend on the abilities of the people attending. I want everyone to be able to enjoy it without feeling rushed, and to have time to answer any questions that you may have.

There is plenty of on street parking, as well as pay and display at Whitlingham Park.

What will I need?

We will be running on a variety of terrain from small sections of road, tracks and hard-packed trails, to single track trails through woods. This trail can be muddy after rain, so we would recommend trail shoes.

Waterproof jacket and depending on the weather sun cream

At least 500ml of water and as many snacks as you think you’ll need.

Most importantly a willingness to enjoy the trails and have fun.

If you are showing symptoms of coronavirus please do not attend this event. If after attending this event you show symptoms of coronavirus, please contact us immediately, so that we can make the other attendees aware.

Please bring a face covering with you. This is for emergencies only, and in case either ourselves or the emergency services need to give you assistance, you will not be required to wear it whilst running.

  • positive review  I just wanted to say a big thank you to Neil and Hannah, for my intro to trail running at West Harling Woods. I am new to running, but am drawn to running off road, what a great location to try it out in. The hosts were very knowledgeable, I learned a lot about equipment, techniques and warming up and down and had fun too! Thanks guys, I will definitely be joining you for a guided run soon.

  • positive review  I absolutely loved the Intro to Trail Running at Harling Woods this morning. Neil and Hannah shared their knowledge from what kit you need to hill trail running. I even learned some new stretches at the end that I will be introducing regularly. The forest was beautiful and the pace was social so all abilities were included. Everyone had a big grin on their faces and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Escape Trails is perfectly named. After the crazy fortnight I have just had I really did feel I had escaped for a few hours. I feel physically and mentally energised. Thank you Neil and Hannah, I look forward to joining you again soon 😀
