Intro To Trail Running West Harling

We realise that leaving the roads behind and hitting the trails can be daunting at first, so that’s why we’ve organised these runs. They will be aimed at trail running novices and we will cover what kit you need, technique, and tips and advice on how to enjoy trail running. We have lots of experience of trail running and will take the time to answer any questions you may have.



5 miles – Please note that whilst aiming to be as accurate to this as possible, in some circumstances we may be slightly over or under this mileage, but this will be very slightly.

What pace will we be running?

These runs are aimed at people that are hitting the trails for the first time, so the pace will be slow enough that we can answer any questions you may have and so that everyone feels comfortable. These events are about having fun not racing, and will feature plenty of breaks to answer questions, catch our breath.

How long will we be running for?

We allow 2 hours for this event, but this will depend on the abilities of the people attending. We want everyone to be able to enjoy it without feeling rushed, and to have time to answer any questions that you may have.


There is plenty of off road parking, although the track to it can be a little bumpy so we would advise against turning up in anything that’s only a couple of centimetres off the ground.

What will I need?

We will be running over a variety of terrain and, whilst these runs will not be over too technical, terrain we would advise trail shoes if possible, but road shoes will do if we’ve had dry weather. If you need any advice on shoes before joining us on a run, please feel free to send us a message and we will do our best to advise.

A waterproof jacket and, depending on the weather conditions, sun cream.

Enough water and snacks to last, with preferably at least 500ml of water.

Most importantly a willingness to learn and have fun.


Although we do not offer refunds in general, if the event is cancelled due to conditions out of our control, where possible we will give at least 24 hours notice, and we will offer a transfer to another event or an 100% refund.

I even learned some new stretches at the end that I will be introducing regularly. The forest was beautiful and the pace was social so all abilities were included. Everyone had a big grin on their faces and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Escape Trails is perfectly named. After the crazy fortnight I have just had I really did feel I had escaped for a few hours.
